Dental Crowns
Crowns can offer a natural look and will also provide you with the same strength that you’d experience with your natural teeth. They are a great restoration option.

Aesthetic Benefits
What is a Dental Crown?
In addition to helping with the stabilisation of teeth that have been compromised, crowns can also help patients with getting a beautiful straight smile, adding a cosmetic bonus.
Crowns can be made using porcelain or resin or from an alloy. They can be designed to mimic the natural colour of your teeth so that your results are beautifully natural. Alloys are typically a fair bit stronger than porcelain so they are often used for back teeth. Porcelain bonded to metal can create strong and aesthetically pleasing results.
Your dentist here at Forster Court Dental will discuss your options with you so that you can choose the right option for you.
Natural Effect assured
What to expect when getting a crown on a tooth?
A tooth that has been cracked or chipped should not take long to repair and heal from the treatment. If you need root canal therapy, then the process may take a little longer. Once teeth are healthy, an impression will be made so that you are assured of the perfect fit and bite restoration.
When the permanent crown is ready to be placed, you’ll return to the dentist’s chair for the fitting. Any small adjustments will be made if needed, to ensure that you have a natural bite and a comfortable fit. The crown will then be permanently bonded to the tooth.

What concerns can crowns be used to treat?
Have you had a chipped tooth repaired? Chipped or cracked tooth repair will help to keep the tooth from falling victim to decay, but the repair alone will not protect the tooth or restore its functionality. A tooth cap will give you that protection and functionality restoration.
Crowns can also be used on healthy teeth to reinforce them for the purposes of affixing a functional bridge. Teeth that are misshapen, slightly misaligned and are stained badly can be fit with crowns, to get the cosmetic result that you’re looking for.
What options are there for crowns?
Porcelain fused to metal can offer the strength needed, while the porcelain provides that beautiful flawless natural look that you need.
Tooth Fillings are alternatives to crowns, but are only suitable to repair a somewhat small area. If the tooth is cracked or has a larger area that needs treatment or stabilisation, then a crown is the best option.
